One of the leading causes of obesity is lack of physical activity. It is compounded by the fact that you tend to eat more when you are just sitting down or working on your computer. This only emphasizes the idea that you should start standing up from that chair and do some exercises.
The only problem is when you are forced to literally sit the entire day because of the nature of your work. Most people have an 8-hour job where they are just inside the office working on tasks virtually. If you are one of these people, you really have to do exercises.
Since you don’t move a lot at work, you should at least hit the gym. Sadly, if you are very tired from all the tasks you have finished during the day, you might not have the energy to drive to the gym and do intense exercises anymore.
If you can’t hit the gym, it is fine. There are certain exercises that can be done right in your office chair. There is no need for you to go elsewhere. For instance, you can do sit ups or push ups next to your office chair.
Don’t mind your officemates laughing at you. The point is that you are doing some physical activities. In the end, as they all start gaining weight and you don’t, they will start copying your moves. Make them understand that you are doing this for your health.
Start throwing some facts about people dying young due to the lack of physical activities and it would just be a matter of time before they follow you and start exercising on their chairs too.
You should also watch what you eat. While seated on your office chair, you might have hidden some snacks in your drawer. This has to stop. You can’t lose weight and achieve your fitness goals even if you exercise if you keep eating unhealthy foods.
Prepare your own food to work if possible. This helps avoid being tempted to eat the food available in the cafeteria. You don’t know what goes into the food and how many unhealthy ingredients were thrown there.
It might a difficult process at first as you have to work and exercise at the same time. However, you just need to keep thinking about the goals you want to achieve. You should also keep doing these exercises on a daily basis.
Start walking to work too if you have enough time to do so and if your house is just nearby. Instead of using the lift, it helps if you go to your office using the stairs. This helps a lot so you become more physically active. These might be just small actions, but they can pose significant effects when done on a daily basis.
